Keith Schaafsma is passionate about comprehensive, holistic wealth management for successful individuals and families. While creating financial peace from chaos and anxiety for her clients, she is able to realize her own dreams of peace and security for her family. She is energized by helping people make smart decisions about their financial future and she values making a real difference in the lives of the clients she is honored to serve.
She knew from a very young age how important money was because her family struggled financially throughout her upbringing. Raised by a single mom in Connecticut, her father has married a total of 7 times! Keith realized the key to a more secure future was to work hard and focus on her education. She put herself through college and received the following degrees from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff:

After graduating, Keith worked first in venture capital and then as a manager for Citibank. She worked in consumer credit, mortgage lending, and commercial lending before discovering she was not a good bureaucrat. She started working with JD Hoyt, the CEO and Founder of Ascendant Financial Solutions, in 1994 and was honored to be the first of many client-centered advisers on his award-winning team.
She received her Certified Financial Planning Designation in 1996. The mission of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board) is to benefit the public by granting the CFP® certification and upholding it as the recognized standard of excellence for competent and ethical personal financial planning. As a Certified Financial Planner, she is subject to the CFP Board’s continuing education and ethical requirements. Keith also holds various FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) securities licenses and several state insurance licenses.
Keith utilizes a Comprehensive Wealth Management model with clients. Comprehensive Wealth Management includes a robust discovery process, written recommendations, investment consulting, advanced planning, and relationship management.
Keith and her husband, Pieter, a landscape designer and painter, enjoy traveling the Southwest with their two dogs as well as visiting Europe, Mexico, and South America. They love the opportunity to grow together through travel, meeting interesting people, and experiencing the local art, architecture, history, and cuisine. Keith speaks French and Spanish. In addition, Keith and Pieter are avid hikers and readers.
Keith and Pieter support a variety of local non-profits including St Mary’s Food Bank, Northern Arizona University, Best Friends Animal Shelter in Kanab, Utah, Flagstaff Community Foundation, Second Chance No-Kill Shelter, Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance, Both Hands, and Literacy Volunteers.
